In Turkey, in the Kumluja area, 70 kilometers from Antalya, there is the ancient city of Olympos. It is located on both sides of the Geksu River, which flows into the Cirali Bay and opens access to a wide
800-meter beach, also known as Olympos.
The gorge of the river with the preserved ruins of the city is part of the Olympos Beidaglary National Park, which covers an area of 34 thousand hectares and stretches from Cape Geledonia to the city of Antalya.
History: presumably, the city was founded at the beginning of the Hellenistic era, around 300 BC. In the II century BC, Olympos became part of the Lycian Union.
Attractions: you can see the remains of an amphitheater, fortifications, several Lycian tombs and sarcophagi.
Visiting hours: Olympos is open to visitors seven days a week:
- in summer — from 8:00 to 21:00 (from April 1 to October 1);
- in winter — from 8:30 to 17:30 (from October 1 to April 1).
The entrance fee in 2024 is 30 liras per person.
